Saturday 22 August marked our annual football presentation this year. Although things were a little different compared to last year, we still had a memorable day recognising the achievements of our fantastic players across a range of age groups and teams.

We would normally hold our presentation in June, however with the restrictions and uncertainty of Covid-19 we were forced to push it back to August. The committee and I were determined to make our annual event go ahead, which meant working extremely hard behind the scenes to plan and prepare for a great day of celebrations with social distancing in place.

Last June saw around 500 people under the same roof at the Dolphin Centre with the presentation in full swing. This year we designated time slots for each team to recognise their hard work and commitment in turn. Each team had around 30-45 minutes to collect their awards with 15 minutes left at the end for us to clean tables and sanitise thoroughly in preparation for the next team arriving.

All our players received a trophy for their efforts and performances for their teams last season. Throughout the day players were recognised for their achievements and awarded the following: Most Improved Player, Top Goal Scorer, Players Player, Parents Player, Most Dedicated and Committed, Managers Player, and Player of the Year.

I was pleased that so many players and parents showed up to see just how proud we are of what Darlington Young Bulls have achieved in the last year. Despite experiencing one of the wettest winters to date and struggling greatly with a global pandemic, we still have so much to feel good about. We were also happy to be able to unveil our brand-new bespoke home strip, manufactured by Core-37. I really feel this gives us our own identity. We’re extremely pleased with the feedback we’ve received on this and can’t wait to see our teams play wearing it next season.

Thank you to Blackwell for hosting our event, the friendly bar staff who kept things running smoothly all day, as well as our volunteers who helped with various fundraising activities throughout, fantastic sponsors, and finally our players and managers because our club wouldn’t be what is today without your dedication and commitment.

Best of luck to all our teams for next season.
