10 years ago in 2013, after a summer of training with another club 2 dads were told there wasn’t a place for their sons in the team that they had trained with for the whole summer.
Taking matters into their own hands they got together and Darlington Young Bulls was formed. The club started off with 2 teams and in the space of 10 years we have grown to be one of the biggest clubs in town with 14 teams playing across different leagues across the North East. We currently have over 200 players, over 40 coaches & committee members. Definitely a long way from the two volunteers that were here on Day 1!
This occasion called for a bigger and better venue than usual and The Majestic Theatre in Darlington fit the bill perfectly!
Preparations began in January with the ordering of trophies and was pretty much non stop up until the day itself.
We were able to award 2 special trophies this year to our longest standing volunteers – Phil Rudd and Joe Chidanyika for 10 years of service
We followed this with several 5 year awards to both coaches and players.
The day was a huge success and we thoroughly enjoyed celebrating our teams’ achievements!
